Micro Instrument Corp began operations in Philadelphia, PA on June 6, 1944. The initial business model focused on developing small surgical instruments. Working with Eastman Kodak Company in support of the war effort, Micro’s talented toolmaking group worked to develop bomb sighting technology to help allies become more accurate in the offensive. Weekly travel from Philadelphia to Rochester, coupled with the growth of Rochester manufacturing opportunities, led Micro to move permanently to the Rochester area in 1946 to work with such manufacturing giants as Bausch + Lomb, GM/AC Delco, Eastman Kodak Company, Gleason Works, and Haloid Company (Xerox).  As the skills of our founders became recognized, it did not take long for the complex machining contracts in town to be sent to Micro.

By the late 1960’s, manufacturing in the Rochester area was booming and offered vast opportunities.  Micro’s clients expressed their desperate need for reliable and efficient local machine builders and encouraged us to get involved in the machine build business.  From that point on, Micro’s machine design and build business became a reality. The leap into equipment design and build was taken in 1967 and it has grown to be the heart of our company.

Today, Micro continues to grow and ship equipment all over the world. Using our state-of-the-art 55,000 square foot facility, we provide custom machinery and tools for multinational clients including NASA, Medtronic, GE Aerospace, L3Harris, and General Motors. We employ a full staff of engineers, technical writers, and trade professionals with unparalleled experience in the industry. Over half of our employees have over 20+ years of tenure.
